Zach Tolman, CPhT

Board Liason

Zach is a pharmacy technician supervisor specializing in oncology medication access at the University of Utah - Huntsman Cancer Hospital.  He has been actively involved with USHP’s Technician and Advocacy Committees since 2016, serving for several years as Co-Chair or Liaison of the Technician Committee.  Zach also volunteers with ASHP’s Pharmacy Technician Forum, where he was appointed to the Practice Advancement and Advocacy Advisory group from 2018-2020, and to the Forum’s Executive Committee from 2020-2021.  In his own time, Zach enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage boys, especially when that involves lazing about at home with board games.

Pharmacy technicians are healthcare professionals, who with the right training, passion and opportunities, can deliver substantial improvements to patient care quality.  Advocating for technician advancement and inclusion has been a very fulfilling endeavor for Zach. USHP is a place where technicians can make a meaningful difference and achieve personal growth in their profession.

Tricia Johnson, CPhT

Co-Chair

Tricia Johnson is the department head of the pharmacy technician program at Bridgerland Technical College. She started her career as a pharmacy technician in a retail setting, moved to a corporate position, then gained experience in hospital pharmacy before moving into education. She has worked in education for over 10 years, and has a strong passion for teaching others what she has learned throughout her career. She is an advocate for pharmacy technicians, and feels strongly it is important to be involved in professional organizations.

Miranda Acevedo, CPhT

Co-Chair

My name is Miranda Acevedo and I have been a pharmacy technician for 3 years now. I have worked hard to get to where I am today in my career. I started my career in retail pharmacy for the first few years. I really enjoy working with patients. I was excited to learn how to administer vaccines when I worked in retail. I enjoy learning things that are going to make me a better technician. This led me to my current job, working in an institutional setting. I have been there for a year now, and have enjoyed learning the new things that come along with it.

My involvement with USHP started because I wanted to apply for a scholarship to become certified in administering immunizations. From there, I realized what technicians can be a part of through USHP and how I could better myself. I am grateful for everything this organization has to offer.
